SORHA PLAYOFFS

Final Day is Saturday March 25, with every team playing two games. Tourny should start up around 9 or 10 am, with the finals being played around 6pm that day.

There will also be a five week round robin playoff starting February 19th to determine the final tourny day seedings.

There will be a 50/50 draw at year end, there are Sorha Cozy cups for sale and with purchase you get to fill out a draw ticket.  These will be going around through the dressing rooms over the next month or so until they are gone. We also have some Sorha T- shirts and a couple hoodies available as well.  Everything will be going towards funding our year end party at Riverstones. Ask your captains for more info.

Room for next season is filling up fast, with the proposed option of 6 teams for next season we are currently almost at 5 full teams. Spots are only held by paying your registration fee. Details found under the Registration tab of the website. Don't delay if you want to play this season, 6 teams could be full by the end of August.

For early registration for next year please pay your team Captains by the end of Burford Cup Playoffs. As of April the league will be open to anyone looking to play next fall, first 6 full teams registered are guaranteed a spot (96 players).

Game Time Changes

Due to Silverstick we have had to change the game times for December 29th. We have shortened the game lengths for that night only so to keep the late game at a resonable time.  We will play three 15 minute run time periods that night with floods at the end of each game.

Tourament Rules
 
In round robin play, teams will get Two points for a win, one point for a shoot out loss and zero points for a loss.
 
In the event of a tie after the round robin the following will be the tie breaker...
 
1) Head to Head match up in games played between tied teams.
2) If still tied, the team with the best win record
3) If still tied, the team with the best goal average in all round robin games would qualify.  The goal average of the team is determined by dividing the total number of goals for by the total number of goal against.  The high number wins.  Note that a maximum of 7 - goal difference per game will be used in the calculation of the game ratio.
4) If still tied, the team with the least number of minutes in penalties in all round robin games.
5) If still tied, the team to qualify would be the team, which scored the earliest goal in the game between the tied teams.
6) if still tied after all previous methods have been applied, the winner will be decided by a single toss of a coin.
 
Game Play Rules
 
Game Duration
The Pool Games, the Round Robin and the Final games will be 2 - 20 minute run time periods and 1 - 20 min stop time period. The ice will be cleaned every two periods of play.  If there is a 3 goal or more spread in the third period, the clock will change to run time.  Example of a 3 goal spread is 6 to 3.
 
The Finals games will be 2 - 20 minute run time periods and 1 - 20 minute stop time period.  
 
Teams are requested to be ready to go on the ice 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled game time.  Teams will be penalized one goal every 5 minutes of tardiness, to a maximum of three goals.  Lost time will be deducted from playing time.
 
Overtime
The Pool Games and The Round Robin games will be solved with shoot out. 3 shooters to shoot, if still tied shooters will continue off the bench.  The same shooter can not shoot until all players on the bench have shot.
 
The Finals will be continuos 5 - 5  for 20 minute sudden death stop time periods.

  Skills Competition 2012 – Everybody invited from all 7 teams.

Goal is just to get together and have a beer.  If your busy cool, otherwise, come on out have bring your family.  Introduce to the team and league.  Just for fun.

Upsets Night One of Playoffs! - A little confusion in the playoff formate, as last year wasn't this close!  Below are the current standing in the playoffs.  And below that are the possibilities that Friday night hold.

Potential Outcomes for Friday

Rokeby Division

Currently it's still up in the air.  Obviously the Salt & Pepper sit in a good spot, but if they lose and the Lions beat Wanstead it will be a three way tie for points and GF will determine who goes to the Semi's.

Shiloh Division

With only one game left between the Wolves & the Oilers anybody can still make the semi's.  Option 1 - If the Wolves win, than the Aces & Oilers are tied in points and GF will determine who makes the Semi's.  So the Oiler will need to score at least 2 against the Wolves, in a lose to clinch a playoff spot.  Option 2 - Oilers win in Regulation would clinch them number one in the division and eliminate the Wovles from the playoffs.  Options 3 - Wolves lose in OT, would leave them tied with the Aces and Goals For would determine the tie breaker and the Wolves would need to score 4 in an OT lose to beat the Aces.  Option 4 - Oilers lose in OT to the Wolves.  Both the Wolves and Oilers would advance but Petrolia would be number 1 ranked because they have 2 more goals in the first game than the Wolves.  If you have any questions e-mail info@sorha.com

World Junior Style Tourny, same as last year, with one change.  We're going to play the first game on Sunday March the 20th, instead of having to playing until midnight on Friday night. NEW RULE - With the last few weeks having a few questionable goals and calls. The Super Brains that run SORHA got together to create a new rule to help these situations.

Disputed Play Rule

If a questionable or iffy play happens on the ice and the referrer at the play doesn't know the call, it's an immediate meeting at the referrer's circle, with both referrer's and a captain from each team.  Note, ONLY one captain is needed from each team.  Here is the process....

1. Review the play.   Discuss the details to understand what happened during the play.
2. Effects to the game.  Discuss who the possible outcomes could effect the play.
3. Vote on the Solution. Each Captain get a vote and the referrers need to agree to vote as one.

The outcome is final and any verbal interact that my fallow will be penalized with an unsportsmanlike penalty.

BLOW IT UP! - Captain's meeting on Sunday, it was officially voted that at the end of the 2011 Season all players will be going back into the draft.  No teams are building for the future.  Leave it all on the ice.

Trade Rumors - Ace, Wanstead & Oilers are talking Big Names.  Can they come together to make a deal?  Captains meeting in week 6, trades might happen.
